Massad Boulos, U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, held talks on Saturday with UAE Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, underscoring the strategic importance of U.S.-UAE cooperation amid mounting regional challenges.
The meeting took place during the annual Munich Security Conference, one of the world’s leading forums for global security dialogue, where policymakers, diplomats and defense officials gather to address pressing geopolitical issues.
According to statements released after the discussion, Boulos emphasized that the United Arab Emirates remains a “valuable partner” for the United States in both the Arab world and across Africa. He stressed that continued coordination between Washington and Abu Dhabi is “critical to the region’s safety, security and prosperity.”
The talks reportedly focused on regional stability, ongoing security challenges in the Middle East and Africa, and the importance of diplomatic engagement to prevent escalation in conflict zones.
Both sides also discussed cooperation in counterterrorism efforts, humanitarian assistance, and economic development initiatives.
The UAE has increasingly positioned itself as a key diplomatic and security actor in the region, playing roles in mediation efforts and humanitarian operations. U.S.-UAE relations have expanded in recent years to include defense cooperation, trade, energy partnerships and technological collaboration.
Observers note that such high-level engagements reflect Washington’s continued effort to reinforce alliances in the Gulf and coordinate responses to evolving regional dynamics.
