Emirates has reached a landmark in its fleet retrofit programme, completing the reconfiguration of its first two-class A380 into a three-cabin layout.

The newly refurbished aircraft is already in service on the Dubai-Birmingham route, featuring 76 Business Class seats, 56 Premium Economy seats and 437 Economy seats.

The headline change: Premium Economy is making its A380 upper deck debut for the first time, offering spacious leather seats in a 2-3-2 configuration with full leg and footrests, a 13.3-inch personal screen, adjustable headrests and elevated dining.

Managed entirely in-house by Emirates Engineering in Dubai, the broader retrofit programme has now overhauled 95 aircraft - 42 A380s and 53 Boeing 777s - representing more than a third of the fleet. This converted A380 is the first of 15 two-class aircraft scheduled for the same treatment.
