From the Red Sea to the desert, Saudi Arabia enters Michelin's elite circle

The Michelin Guide has unveiled its 2026 hotel selection for Saudi Arabia, spotlighting 54 properties across Riyadh, Jeddah, AlUla and the Red Sea coast, further cementing the kingdom's rapid rise as a global luxury travel destination.

The selection includes 37 hotels recommended by the guide, alongside 17 properties awarded coveted Michelin Keys, the distinction reserved for hotels judged to offer truly exceptional stays. Of those 17, 13 received One Michelin Key, three earned Two Michelin Keys, and one claimed the guide's top honor: Three Michelin Keys.

Desert Rock Resort steals the spotlight

That top distinction went to Desert Rock Resort, tucked into the dramatic Hijaz Mountains, the only Saudi property to reach the three-key summit this year. The resort didn't stop there: it also picked up the Michelin Guide's Architecture & Design Award for 2026, recognized for a design so seamlessly woven into its rugged surroundings that it feels less built than discovered.

Just behind it, four properties claimed Two Michelin Keys: Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, alongside Shebara Resort and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a lineup that reads like a wish list for anyone chasing serious Red Sea indulgence.

This year's selection lands squarely amid Saudi Arabia's continued push to expand its high-end hospitality footprint, with new resorts and destinations opening across the country at a steady clip, from remote desert escapes to Red Sea island retreats designed for travelers who want their luxury with a side of untouched landscape.
