Lebanese Foreign Minister Joe Raggi received a call Saturday from his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, who congratulated Beirut on signing the framework agreement with Israel negotiated under American auspices.
Safadi "expressed his hope that this agreement serves Lebanon's interests," particularly in reaffirming its sovereignty and restoring stability, Raggi said in a post on X.
"I thanked him for Jordan's unwavering support for Lebanon and reaffirmed that this agreement is above all a victory for diplomacy and for the authority of the state and its institutions," the Lebanese foreign minister added.
The call is the latest in a series of regional endorsements for Lebanon's decision to pursue direct negotiations with Israel, a sovereign path that has drawn strong backing from Arab states and sharp opposition from Hezbollah, which attempted to derail the process by insisting Iran handle the Lebanese file in its own talks with Washington.
