The first real snowfalls of the season have finally reached Lebanon, bringing with them that familiar sense of winter excitement.
For the second consecutive day on Sunday, fresh snow was recorded across several regions of the country. The storm, which began overnight from Saturday into Sunday, delivered heavy precipitation nationwide.
In the mountains, rain quickly turned into snow from elevations of around 1,250 meters, blanketing the peaks of Kesrouan, North Lebanon, and the Bekaa. For the first time this season, snow accumulation reached approximately 15 centimeters.
These conditions led to the closure of several mountain roads, while snow-clearing teams were deployed to keep main routes accessible. A reminder that winter in Lebanon still follows its own unpredictable rhythm.
Beyond the disruptions, snowfall mainly brings anticipation. Each storm is closely watched by mountain lovers and ski enthusiasts hoping for the season’s official kickoff.
Attention is now focused on The Cedars, Zaarour Club, and Mzaar Kfardebian, long-standing symbols of Lebanon’s winter lifestyle. For now, no opening dates can be confirmed. Resort operators remain cautious, waiting for consistent snowfall and a solid base that ensures safe and lasting conditions.
Every season begins the same way. Weather forecasts are checked obsessively, photos of snow-covered roads fill group chats, and winter coats come back out of storage. Mountain cafés prepare for the rush, fireplaces are lit once more, and the same question lingers everywhere: will this be the weekend?
In Lebanon, snow is never just about skiing. It reshapes the landscape, slows the pace, and highlights the country’s rare contrast between sea and mountains. While the ski resorts wait for the green light, winter is quietly settling in, carrying the promise of white weekends ahead.
