U.S. President Donald J. Trump could arrive in Jerusalem as early as Sunday, October 12, following the announcement of a breakthrough ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza that U.S. officials say was brokered with his direct involvement.

According to a statement from Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s office, the expected visit has already prompted changes to the president’s public schedule.

“In light of the anticipated release of hostages, and the upcoming visit of the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, to Israel, President Herzog has decided to cancel a public event that had been scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2025,” the statement said.

Security closures and “historic developments expected in the coming days” were cited as reasons for the cancellation, according to the official communiqué, published Thursday.

Sources close to the Israeli government told Mena Today that preparations are underway for high-level meetings in Jerusalem and possibly a public appearance by Trump in Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square—a central site for ongoing protests and vigils since the abduction of Israeli citizens earlier this year.
