The Tel Aviv District Planning and Building Committee has approved for deposit a plan to build the permanent embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Herzliya, signaling a significant step forward in the normalization and strengthening of ties between the two countries.
According to Globes, the prominent Israeli business daily that reported the news on Tuesday, the plan grants the UAE rights to construct up to 15,000 square meters of space above ground on a site that will accommodate a 15-floor building fully owned by the Emirati embassy.
The upper floors, which may occupy up to 20% of the total building rights, are designated for residences for embassy staff and the ambassador, creating a fully integrated diplomatic compound.
Strategic Location in Israel’s High-Tech Hub
The embassy will be located in Herzliya, a coastal city just north of Tel Aviv, often dubbed Israel’s “Silicon Wadi.” Herzliya is home to the headquarters of numerous multinational tech companies, startups, and venture capital firms. The city’s prestigious business district, Herzliya Pituach, also hosts several foreign embassies and consulates.
Choosing Herzliya reflects the UAE’s intention not only to strengthen diplomatic representation but also to remain close to Israel’s innovation and technology ecosystem, which has become a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation since the 2020 Abraham Accords.
This significant construction project is more than just a real estate development—it is a symbol of long-term confidence in the trajectory of UAE-Israel relations.
Since the signing of the Abraham Accords, trade, tourism, and investment have expanded rapidly between the two countries. Emirati officials have consistently expressed interest in collaborating with Israel across sectors such as technology, defense, healthcare, and renewable energy.
