On Monday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty led a delegation to Riyadh for a session of the Political Consultation and Follow-up Committee with Saudi Arabia, headed by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
The meeting focused on deepening economic and investment ties while addressing key regional developments, particularly the crisis in Gaza.
Abdelatty emphasized the need to leverage existing economic frameworks, highlighting the success of the recent Egyptian-Saudi Business Council visit to Cairo from April 12-14, which explored investment opportunities.
He proposed a joint Egyptian-Saudi Investment Forum to further elevate economic relations and stressed Egypt’s efforts to attract Saudi investors through financial and tax reforms.
He also called for industrial integration, aligning Egypt’s Vision 2030 with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to boost economic ties.
On Gaza, both ministers rejected any notion of forcibly displacing Palestinians, an option not seriously considered by either side.
They discussed joint efforts for a ceasefire, addressing the dire humanitarian situation, and reviewed the Arab-Islamic reconstruction initiative for Gaza, alongside preparations for an upcoming international conference hosted by Egypt with the UN and Palestinian government.
The session also covered developments in Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Red Sea security, with both nations aligning on the need for regional stability and continued collaboration.
