Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, arrived Monday in Aqaba, Jordan, on a working visit to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Aqaba–Al-Shidiyeh–Maan Railway Project.
King Abdullah II of Jordan led the delegation that received him at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, alongside several senior officials. As Sheikh Khaled's aircraft entered Jordanian airspace, it was escorted by Royal Jordanian Air Force jets as a gesture of welcome.
The two leaders then witnessed the launch of construction.
The project follows a $2.3 billion infrastructure partnership that the UAE and Jordan began in April 2026, when they signed definitive agreements to build the Aqaba Port Railway.
It extends a broader $5.5 billion investment framework set up in late 2023 under King Abdullah II and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Khaled stressed the strength of the "fraternal relations" between the two countries and their close coordination in various fields. The step reflects the vision of both leaders to build a sustainable strategic partnership based on joint action and strengthened cooperation frameworks.
