Argentine President Javier Milei is scheduled to visit Israel in early June, where he is expected to reiterate his intention to relocate Argentina’s embassy to Jerusalem—a controversial move that may not be realized until after the country’s congressional elections in October.

During his three-day visit beginning June 9, Milei will hold meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.

His agenda includes an address to the Knesset and the signing of a joint statement with Netanyahu, focusing on shared democratic values and freedom. The document is reportedly intended to distance Argentina’s current administration from previous diplomatic overtures made to Iran under former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The Argentine leader’s itinerary also includes visits to key religious and historical sites, such as the Western Wall and the City of David. Additionally, he is expected to meet with survivors and families of hostages who hold Argentine citizenship, reflecting a focus on Argentina’s diaspora and its connection to the ongoing conflict.

While in Jerusalem, Milei is slated to receive the Genesis Prize—an award often described as the “Jewish Nobel”—in recognition of his public support for Israel.

Sources familiar with the visit noted plans to announce a new direct air route between Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv. The service is expected to run three times weekly, enhancing travel and economic ties between the two nations.

Israeli officials have characterized Milei as a staunch ally, describing his upcoming visit as a gesture of solidarity during a politically sensitive time for the region.
