The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the release of five Lebanese nationals held by Israel, after being abducted from southern Lebanon during the successive wars since 2023.
"After questioning, it emerged that these were citizens who were not members of any terrorist organization, had not participated in terrorist activities, and there was no reason to continue holding them in Israel," a statement said.
The release of one of the five, Malek Ghazi, had already been confirmed by a military source. He was abducted in the Rachaya region in October 2025.
