Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa met with Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday. On this occasion, a major investment package exceeding $17 billion in the United States was announced.
At the heart of the investment is a $7 billion deal involving Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air, Boeing, and General Electric (GE). The agreement includes the purchase of 12 aircraft with an option for six more, as well as 40 GE engine.
The Bahraini deal, facilitated by Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, is projected to support 30,000 American jobs, the White House official noted.
In addition to the aviation deal, Bahrain is expected to sign technology partnerships with U.S. firms such as Oracle and Cisco. Notably, the Gulf kingdom is planning to phase out Chinese servers in favor of Cisco’s technology, signaling a geopolitical shift in its digital infrastructure.
Bahrain is also ramping up its interest in U.S. energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors. Future plans include investments in liquefied natural gas (LNG) production to bolster energy security, expanding aluminum production, and procuring advanced AI chips through partnerships with major American tech firms.
As part of the visit, the Crown Prince will sign multiple agreements and MOUs, including one establishing a framework for potential civil nuclear energy development. That memorandum was signed at the U.S. State Department by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani ahead of the official White House meeting.
Later this year, King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa is expected to travel to Washington to finalize the agreements and deepen economic cooperation between the two nations.
The Crown Prince’s visit marks his third to the White House, underscoring Bahrain’s strategic alignment with the U.S. under Trump’s influence.

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud said the Israeli government's refusal to allow a delegation of Arab ministers to the occupied West Bank showed its "extremism and rejection of peace".
Russia is nearing the final stages of a major energy agreement with Bahrain that would see Moscow supply 1.5 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually to the Gulf kingdom over a three-year period, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
