The new French Minister of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to meet his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, on February 25th in Rabat.

This meeting holds significant symbolism after several months of a frosty climate between the two countries. It aims to revive the project of Emmanuel Macron's visit to the kingdom, as indicated by the confidential newsletter 'Africa Intelligence' on Friday.

Stéphane Séjourné and Nasser Bourita will discuss the scenario of Emmanuel Macron's visit to Morocco in the coming months.

Constantly postponed since late 2022, this visit could finally take place before the summer.

The Western Sahara issue, the main stumbling block between France and Morocco, remains far from being resolved.

While French diplomacy has made several gestures on this matter in recent months, it is unlikely to formally recognize Morocco's sovereignty over the disputed territory at this time.

Spain and many African countries support Morocco's position.

Paris fears hiding behind Algeria.
