A Sudanese rights group said on Sunday that air strikes on a gold mine in Sudan, near the border with Egypt, killed at least 72 miners, and blamed the Egyptian air force.

"The attack carried out by Egyptian military aircraft" on Saturday "killed 72 civilian miners, according to a preliminary toll," said Emergency Lawyers, an independent group that documents violence in Sudan's war.

The claim could not be independently verified. There was no immediate comment from the Egyptian government or from Sudan's warring parties.
