Fahad Al Masri, a long-time opponent of Bashar al-Assad and former spokesperson for the Free Syrian Army, is preparing to return to Syria following the fall of the Assad regime.
As the founder of the opposition political party, the National Salvation Front in Syria, Al Masri sees this moment as an opportunity to lay the foundation for a new and democratic Syria.
Forced into exile due to harassment by the Assad regime, Al Masri now looks forward to participating in the reconstruction of a free and democratic Syria.
He advocates for the establishment of an inclusive government that represents all segments of Syrian society, ensuring unity and fairness during this transitional period.
“This is a chance for Syria to rise again, stronger and more inclusive than ever before,” Al Masri stated.
On the regional front, Al Masri envisions a diplomatic and peaceful relationship between Syria and its neighbors, including Israel. While he has criticized the presence of Israeli troops in the buffer zone of the Golan Heights, he acknowledges Israel’s security concerns, particularly in the absence of a functioning Syrian national army.
“We understand Israel’s need to safeguard its borders in the current context, but our goal is to reestablish a strong, sovereign Syria that can engage constructively with all its neighbors,” he explained.
Al Masri’s pragmatic approach suggests that dialogue and mutual understanding will be key in addressing long-standing regional tensions.
A Clear and Ambitious Political Program
Fahad Al Masri has spent years developing a comprehensive political program for the future of Syria. The key pillars of his vision include:
Al Masri remains optimistic about Syria’s future, despite the challenges of rebuilding after years of conflict and oppression. His return to the country marks not just a personal milestone but a symbol of hope for many Syrians who long for a new chapter in their nation’s history.
“Syria has suffered for far too long. Now is the time to unite, heal, and rebuild. Together, we can create a Syria that embodies freedom, justice, and peace,” he declared.
With his political program and commitment to inclusivity, Fahad Al Masri positions himself as a key figure in shaping the next phase of Syria’s history. As the country navigates its transition, his leadership could play a pivotal role in ensuring that the dreams of a free and democratic Syria become a reality.
