French President Emmanuel Macron will host his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Élysée Palace this Monday, the French presidency announced on Saturday.

The meeting comes ahead of Cyprus assuming the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.

At the heart of their discussions will be the key priorities of the upcoming Cypriot presidency of the EU Council, along with major international issues, particularly continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

Following their talks, the two heads of state will sign a strategic partnership agreement aimed at strengthening and structuring bilateral relations between France and Cyprus.

The agreement will cover several key areas, including defense, economy, cultural cooperation, innovation, and education. It also aims to enhance coordination between the two countries on European and international matters.

This meeting marks a significant step in deepening ties between Paris and Nicosia at a strategically important time for the European Union.
