A ceremony for the handover of French and Cypriot equipment to the Lebanese Army was held on Friday at the Port of Beirut.

As part of the enhanced cooperation plan between the French and Lebanese armies, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) received a donation of 10 backhoe loaders and 10 compactors from France. These will be utilized by engineering units for clearing debris and restoring roads, particularly in southern Lebanon, alongside maintenance parts for armored personnel carriers (VAB).

Cyprus also made a significant contribution, delivering 33 tons of supplies and support equipment to the Lebanese Army.

This aid reflects Cyprus’s commitment to ensuring stability and supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty, particularly in light of ongoing regional tensions.

Following the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which came into effect on November 27, the Lebanese Army began its deployment in southern Lebanon.

This equipment and support come at a critical time as the Lebanese Army works to restore stability, enforce the ceasefire, and ensure the application of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
