According to the statement, the outgoing Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, 'decided the closure of all government and public institutions, as well as municipalities, in response to the global call for Gaza and in solidarity with the Palestinian people and with our people in Gaza and in Lebanese border villages.'
The Minister of Education has also announced the closure of all schools and universities for the day. The Association of Banks in Lebanon has likewise issued a statement announcing the closure of all banks in the country on Monday 'in solidarity with the Palestinian people.'
