Tunisian authorities have dismissed the chairman of the national airline, Tunisair, following a wave of disruptions that sparked widespread public dissatisfaction. The announcement came on Saturday from the Ministry of Transport.

Habib Mekki, who was serving as chairman of the airline's board of directors, was relieved of his duties "due to repeated operational disturbances that caused great discontent among the public," the ministry said in a statement.

The Transport Ministry confirmed that the airline’s board would convene shortly to elect a new chairman in order to ensure the continuity and proper management of the company.

In addition, a formal warning has been issued to all Tunisair station managers, urging them to improve the handling and support of affected passengers. The ministry emphasized the need for urgent measures to prevent further damage to the airline’s reputation and to restore trust among travelers.

Tunisair has been facing growing criticism in recent months over delays, cancellations, and deteriorating service, raising serious concerns about the company’s management and operational efficiency.
