Sources told the Saudi television network Al-Arabiya that talks between the Hamas delegation and Egyptian officials regarding a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip have begun.

Earlier, the Saudi newspaper A Sharq al-Awsat reported that an Israeli delegation is also expected to arrive in Cairo following progress in discussions with Hamas regarding the deal.

According to the report, "Hamas has softened its positions and Egypt is working to achieve similar flexibility with the Israeli delegation."

However, Israeli officials said that they are waiting for Hamas' answer, which is expected Wednesday or Thursday, and only after that will Israel decide whether to send representatives to the negotiations.
