Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan met with Hamas leader Muhammad Ismail Darwish in Ankara on Wednesday, according to an official statement from Erdogan's office.

The meeting was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin, alongside other Hamas officials.

Ankara maintains a strategic relationship with Hamas while also keeping diplomatic channels open with Israel. This dual approach allows Turkey to position itself as a potential mediator in the ongoing discussions regarding the future of Gaza.

Erdogan’s Potential Role in Regional Diplomacy

Given Turkey’s close ties with both Hamas and Israel, Erdogan could play a pivotal role in brokering dialogue and facilitating negotiations concerning Gaza’s future. His administration has consistently advocated for a balanced and diplomatic resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

This meeting underscores Turkey's ongoing efforts to remain engaged in regional politics while strengthening its influence in diplomatic discussions concerning the Middle East and the broader geopolitical landscape.
