The International Organization for Migration (IOM) issued a dire warning on Monday, stating that Sudan is at a "catastrophic breaking point" with the potential for tens of thousands of preventable deaths due to multiple crises.

"Without immediate, massive, and coordinated action, we risk witnessing the avoidable deaths of tens of thousands of people in the coming months. We are at a breaking point—a catastrophic, cataclysmic breaking point," said Othman Belbeisi, the IOM's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa.

This stark warning underscores the urgency of the situation in Sudan, where the country is grappling with a convergence of crises, including conflict, displacement, and severe humanitarian challenges. The IOM's call to action highlights the need for a coordinated international response to prevent further loss of life and to address the escalating humanitarian needs in the region.

As the situation deteriorates, the international community is urged to mobilize resources and support to avert a large-scale human catastrophe in Sudan.
