The Israeli army has announced the death of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, just moments ago.

Sinwar, one of the founding members of the militant group and a key figure in its leadership, had been a prominent target for Israeli forces due to his central role in orchestrating attacks against Israel.

Sinwar, who rose to prominence within Hamas after being released from an Israeli prison in 2011 as part of a prisoner exchange deal, had been heavily involved in the group's military strategy, including its operations against Israeli forces and civilians. His leadership was seen as pivotal in the group's recent escalations of violence, particularly in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Israeli military officials have not yet provided further details regarding the circumstances of his death, but this marks a significant development in the long-standing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
