An Israeli airstrike struck on Thursday a police station in Jabalia, located in the northern Gaza Strip, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli military stated that the target was a command and control center operated by Hamas and the allied Palestinian Islamic Jihad, used by militants to plan and execute attacks against Israeli forces.

Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have seen their influence wane in recent years. However, small urban guerrilla groups remain active, often embedding themselves within civilian populations to shield their operations—a longstanding tactic of these movements. The Israeli military accused the groups of exploiting civilians and civilian infrastructure for military purposes.

This airstrike is part of Israel’s ongoing operations in Gaza, resumed after a two-month ceasefire collapsed in March 2025, aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure.
