Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties between their two countries during a state visit by the Jordanian monarch on August 25–26, 2025.

In a joint statement issued after expanded talks in Samarkand, the leaders highlighted plans to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian fields, with priority sectors including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, technology, tourism, and higher education. They also announced the creation of a Uzbekistan-Jordan Business Forum and signed a series of agreements covering trade, investment protection, visa exemption, food safety, customs, air services, and judicial cooperation.

On regional issues, both leaders called for an immediate halt to the war in Gaza and the urgent opening of border crossings to allow humanitarian aid. They stressed support for UNRWA and reaffirmed commitment to the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital. President Mirziyoyev reaffirmed support for Jordan’s Hashemite Custodianship of holy sites in Jerusalem.

The leaders also discussed regional security, including the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan, and pledged to maintain coordination at the UN, OIC, and other multilateral forums.

King Abdullah thanked President Mirziyoyev for his hospitality, with both sides agreeing to sustain high-level contacts in the future.
