EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Monday called for a diplomatic solution regarding Iran, arguing that the country is currently in a position of significant weakness as it faces mounting pressure from the United States.

Speaking shortly before a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels, Kallas said the present moment could offer an opportunity for renewed diplomatic engagement.

“It is true that Iran is at the weakest point it has ever been, and we should really use this period to find a diplomatic solution,” she stated.

Her remarks come as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain elevated. The United States has maintained pressure on Iran through sanctions and political measures, contributing to what European officials describe as a fragile situation.

Kallas emphasized that diplomacy remains the preferred path forward for the European Union. The meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels is expected to address broader regional security concerns, including developments related to Iran.
