The Progressive Socialist Party (PSP), led by MP Taymour Joumblatt, on Thursday called on all Lebanese to embrace "a moment of national unity, beyond all divergences" during the popular funeral of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, scheduled for Sunday.

The PSP paid tribute to "the souls of the martyrs who have fallen throughout history in the confrontation with the Israeli enemy" and renewed its condolences over the deaths of Nasrallah and his presumed successor, Hachem Safieddine, in Israeli bombings in September and October 2024.

The PSP does not shy away from acknowledging the reality of the situation. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has been a primary source of Lebanon’s destabilization for nearly 40 years.

The group’s influence has deeply affected the country's political and security landscape, raising ongoing concerns about its role in regional conflicts and domestic governance.

As Lebanon grapples with persistent challenges, the call for unity by the PSP highlights the complex political and sectarian dynamics shaping the nation’s future.
