An altercation in Bourj Hammoud, north of Beirut, escalated into a physical fight and gunfire on Saturday night, resulting in multiple injuries, local media reported.

Red Cross volunteers were dispatched to the scene and transported the wounded to the hospital.

According to Lebanese channel MTV, the incident was preceded by a dispute the previous day, during which some men allegedly shouted "Shia Shia" in reference to their Shiite sect and attacked the headquarters of the Armenian party Tashnag. This earlier dispute reportedly led to the fight on Saturday.

The head of Bourj Hamoud municipality and Red Cross could not immediately be reached for comment.

Hezbollah announced on Sunday the death of one of its members, Samir Eid Qabbani, who was killed in a clash stemming from a "personal dispute" on Saturday night in the Hay Madi area of Beirut's southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold — a joint statement by Hezbollah and Amal confirmed Qabbani's death but did not provide details of the altercation.
