The United States welcomed "constructive" discussions between Israeli and Lebanese military delegations at the Pentagon on Friday, following nine hours of talks aimed at advancing the security track of ongoing peace negotiations between the two countries.

"Today at the Pentagon, I hosted military delegations from Israel and Lebanon as part of the security track aimed at supporting the ongoing peace talks between their two countries," said Elbridge Colby, the US Deputy Secretary of Defense, in a post on X.

However, no announcement was made regarding the effective implementation of a ceasefire in Lebanon, a point Beirut has been pressing for.

The silence on this issue underscores the complexity of the negotiations, with Lebanon pushing for concrete progress on the ground while broader diplomatic discussions continue.
