Peru president calls general elections for April 2026
Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on Tuesday called for general elections to be held on April 12, 2026, saying she hoped the vote would put an end to a period of instability.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on Tuesday called for general elections to be held on April 12, 2026, saying she hoped the vote would put an end to a period of instability.
Boluarte took office in 2022 after her predecessor, former President Pedro Castillo, was removed from office. Her term ends in 2026.
