Qatar's Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held talks Wednesday with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens, in a meeting that underscored the growing warmth between the two countries.
"A constructive meeting today in Athens with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during which we discussed prospects for developing cooperation through further bilateral partnerships in promising and diverse sectors," the Emir wrote on his official X account following the talks.
Al Thani highlighted the quality of the bilateral relationship, noting that "the distinguished level reached by our relations embodies the shared commitment of our two countries to strengthening this cooperation in a way that serves our common interests and aspirations."
The visit comes at a time of heightened Qatari diplomatic activity across Europe, as Doha continues to position itself as a key interlocutor between the Gulf and Western nations, particularly on energy, investment and regional security matters.
Greece, for its part, has been actively strengthening its ties with Gulf states as it diversifies its energy partnerships and seeks new investment flows.
No specific agreements were announced, but the tone of the Emir's statement suggested that concrete cooperation frameworks across multiple sectors are in the pipeline.
