Qatar's Air Force shot down two Iranian SU-24 bombers on Monday after the Islamic Republic launched a direct military strike against the emirate's gas facilities, the Qatari Defence Ministry announced in an official statement.

Qatar's Air Force shot down two Iranian SU-24 bombers on Monday after the Islamic Republic launched a direct military strike against the emirate's gas facilities, the Qatari Defence Ministry announced in an official statement.

"The Qatar Air Force successfully shot down two SU-24 aircraft coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran," the ministry said, adding that air defences had also intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones targeting multiple locations across the country.

Qatar hosts the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East, housing thousands of American troops and serving as a critical command centre for regional operations.
