The village of Moukhtara and the Joumblatt family commemorated the 47th anniversary of the assassination of Druze leader Kamal Joumblatt, founder of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP), on Saturday. He was assassinated on March 16, 1977, near Baakline in the Chouf Mountains by the Syrian regime.

During this commemoration, Taymour Joumblatt, Kamal's grandson and head of the PSP, stated that "The anniversary of Kamal Joumblatt's martyrdom will remain a symbol of a renewed legacy of struggle, embodying national and Arab causes, notably the Palestinian cause."

The history of the Druze party is characterized by unnatural alliances, including with Syria, Israel, and Palestinian movements in Lebanon. Today, it is difficult to determine its true position.

Its support for Hamas appears to be merely a political opportunity.
