Saudi Arabia has voiced strong support for Lebanon's government as it faces Hezbollah-led unrest following the decision to ban Iranian civilian planes from landing at Beirut International Airport (AIB) due to Israeli threats.

In a statement published Sunday by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and relayed by Lebanon’s National News Agency (ANI), Riyadh expressed "full support for the measures taken by the Republic of Lebanon to counter attempts to undermine the security of Lebanese citizens" and urged firm action against the attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The Saudi Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its "support and confidence in the measures taken by President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam", as well as the Lebanese army’s role in ensuring security and stability.

This endorsement comes as Lebanon witnesses a surge in Hezbollah-fueled chaos, with the Iran-backed militia inciting protests and attacking UN peacekeepers.

On Friday, Hezbollah militants assaulted a UNIFIL convoy in Beirut, injuring officers. The next day, tensions escalated between Hezbollah supporters and the Lebanese army during another demonstration.

Hezbollah’s Aggressive Tactics and Political Manipulation

Instead of acknowledging its role in destabilizing Lebanon, Hezbollah has attempted to shift the blame, claiming on Sunday that the government is trying to "turn the army against the people."

The Iran-backed group, which operates as a state within a state, continues to ignore Lebanon’s sovereignty and violate the commitments made under the ceasefire agreement with Israel that took effect on November 27.

Hezbollah’s actions have been widely condemned. The Kataeb Party accused the group of breaking its ceasefire commitments and dragging Lebanon further into instability.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s call for firm action against those threatening Lebanon’s security signals growing regional frustration with Hezbollah’s destabilizing influence.

As Hezbollah prioritizes Iranian interests over Lebanon’s stability, the Lebanese people are once again paying the price for its reckless provocations.
