The Saudi-led coalition said Saturday it is carrying out a "large-scale operation" against Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels, claiming to have destroyed 136 military targets.
"We are conducting large-scale operations targeting the Houthis' personnel and capabilities," coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said on X. He said the coalition is working to "dismantle and destroy" the group's ballistic missile network and is providing round-the-clock air support to Yemen's armed forces.
Al-Masirah, a channel affiliated with the Houthis, reported Saudi missile attacks in Saada province, in northwestern Yemen.
Hostilities between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, which backs Yemen's government, escalated in September after the rebels seized the Red Sea coastline in a lightning offensive. Six people have been killed this week in Houthi-claimed strikes on Saudi airports.
Fighting is also raging inside Yemen. More than 400 people have died since government forces, backed by Saudi warplanes, launched Operation "Dawn of Yemen" on Monday.
A government-side military source said earlier that a "vast operation" was under way Friday to retake the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait from the Houthis. The waterway links Asia to Europe via the Suez Canal.
