Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the State of Israel to the Catholic Church and its global faithful following the death of Pope Francis.

In a message posted on social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the Catholic community, writing: “The State of Israel expresses its deepest condolences to the Catholic Church and to Catholics around the world on the passing of Pope Francis. May he rest in peace.”

The statement reflects the respect and recognition Pope Francis garnered far beyond the Catholic world, including in the Middle East, where his calls for dialogue, peace, and coexistence resonated widely.

Pope Francis, known for his efforts to build bridges between faiths and advocate for the marginalized, visited the Holy Land in 2014, where he met with religious and political leaders in both Israel and Palestine.

His death marks the end of a decade-long papacy during which he championed compassion, humility, and global solidarity. The Vatican has not yet confirmed details regarding the funeral arrangements, but world leaders and religious figures continue to pay tribute to his legacy.
