US President Donald Trump will hold bilateral talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 summit opening Monday in Évian, France, the Egyptian presidency announced Sunday.

Sisi is travelling to Évian, where G7 leaders will gather through Wednesday, for a series of bilateral meetings including the sit-down with Trump.

According to Cairo, discussions will focus on "ways to resolve international geopolitical crises and address their effects on trade, energy and supply chains, a clear reference to the ongoing efforts to end the Middle East war triggered by the Israeli-American strikes against Iran on February 28.

Egypt, which shares a border with Gaza and has played a key mediating role throughout the conflict, is a critical interlocutor for Washington as it seeks a durable ceasefire framework across the region.
