Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan accused Israel of having "no intention of peace" in Gaza during a press conference on Sunday with his Saudi counterpart, who was visiting Istanbul.
Fidan criticized Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for committing "new massacres" whenever there is a positive atmosphere, suggesting that Israel's actions indicate a lack of genuine desire for peace.
"After the attack on civilians in Khan Younis yesterday, it is clear that Israel's intention is not to end this conflict but to continue its policy of exterminating the Palestinian people," Fidan asserted.
Fidan urged Israel to accept the ceasefire agreement that Hamas had agreed to, despite difficulties. "If Israel does not accept the ceasefire soon and end the bloodshed, there will be more deaths, massacres, and instability, which we do not want to see," he warned.
Unlike the United States, Israel, and the European Union, which designate Hamas as a terrorist organization, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regularly expresses support for the Palestinian movement.
