Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State, concluded a key diplomatic visit to Cyprus, reinforcing the growing partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Cyprus.
During her stay in Nicosia, Nusseibeh met with President Nikos Christodoulides, Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Deputy Minister Marilena Raouna, and Thessalia Salina Shambos, Cyprus’s Special Representative for Religious Freedoms.
Talks focused on regional developments, Cyprus’s upcoming EU Presidency in 2026, and the humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
A highlight of the visit was Nusseibeh’s stop at Limassol Port, where she reviewed operations of the Amalthea Maritime Corridor, a Cyprus–UAE initiative that has delivered over 27,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza since March 2024. The UAE contributed $15 million to the Amalthea Fund.
Foreign Minister Kombos praised the UAE as “a regional pioneer and strategic ally,” while Nusseibeh highlighted the UAE’s humanitarian diplomacy and welcomed closer EU-UAE cooperation through the Free Trade Agreement.
