French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Friday hailed the prospect of the United Nations adopting a resolution condemning Hamas, describing it as a turning point in the group’s international isolation.

“September 12 will be remembered as the day of Hamas’s definitive international isolation,” Barrot said.

According to the minister, the resolution—drafted jointly by France and Saudi Arabia—marks the first time the UN will formally condemn Hamas. The text denounces the group’s crimes, calls for its disarmament, and demands its permanent exclusion from any future role in Palestinian governance.

Barrot expressed confidence that the resolution would be “widely adopted” by member states, underlining France’s determination to build consensus within the international community against Hamas.
