Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Monday in Tel Aviv with U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, amid renewed tensions in Gaza that have strained the fragile ceasefire in place since October 10.

According to Shosh Bedrosian, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting focused on “developments and updates in the region.” Kushner, senior adviser and son-in-law of former President Donald Trump, and Witkoff, his envoy, are holding talks with Israeli officials regarding the situation in Gaza, the U.S. embassy confirmed.

Later this week, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is also expected to visit Israel along with his wife, Usha. Netanyahu officially confirmed the visit during a session of the Knesset on Monday afternoon.

“Tomorrow, Vice President J.D. Vance will arrive for his mission. We will discuss two key issues: the security challenges we face and the diplomatic opportunities ahead,” Netanyahu told lawmakers, adding with determination: “We will overcome the challenges and seize the opportunities.”

The visit comes a day after a new wave of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza left dozens dead, testing the limits of the current truce. Vice President Vance reacted cautiously, stating,

With renewed high-level diplomacy and increasing U.S. engagement, Israeli leadership appears focused on navigating both immediate threats and long-term regional realignments.
