The world’s first Bundesliga Academy has officially opened in Abu Dhabi on Friday, marking a new step in football development in the UAE. The project follows a strategic partnership between the UAE Pro League and the Bundesliga.

Based at Sport X, a purpose-built high-performance facility, the academy will serve as its official headquarters and operational centre. The goal is clear: identify and develop young talent through structured pathways that meet top international standards.

Training methods are inspired by the Bundesliga’s proven approach to youth development and will be adapted to the UAE football landscape through close cooperation with the UAE Pro League, ensuring alignment with national development plans.

The Bundesliga is Germany’s top professional football league and one of the most respected in the world.

Known for its strong youth academies, passionate fan culture, and modern stadiums, it generated a record €6.33 billion in revenue during the 2024–2025 season. The league is widely seen as a global benchmark for sporting excellence, governance, and fan engagement.

Beyond player development, the partnership also focuses on knowledge exchange.

Key areas include creating pathways for Emirati players to reach Bundesliga clubs, improving matchday and fan experiences, collaborating on digital platforms, and sharing expertise in marketing, content creation, and commercial partnerships.

For UAE football, the academy represents more than a training centre. It is a long-term investment in talent, know-how, and global connection to one of football’s leading leagues.
