Al-Sisi accepts invitation to Trump-led peace council

The Arab Republic of Egypt has welcomed an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump for President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to join the Board of Peace overseeing efforts to end the war in Gaza.

The Arab Republic of Egypt has welcomed an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump for President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to join the Board of Peace overseeing efforts to end the war in Gaza. 

Cairo announced its agreement to accept the invitation and to proceed with the necessary legal and constitutional steps to formalize its membership.

In an official statement, Egypt praised President Trump’s leadership and his commitment to ending the conflict in Gaza, as well as to promoting security, peace, and stability across the Middle East.

Egypt also expressed its support for the mission of the Peace Council within the framework of the second phase of the comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2730. 

The statement reaffirmed Egypt’s intention to continue working closely with the United States of America and relevant partners to advance efforts toward a sustainable resolution to the crisis.
