Algeria edge Burkina Faso to book place in AFCON round of 16

Algeria national football team secured qualification for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after edging Burkina Faso national football team 1–0 in a tightly contested match played at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium.

Algeria national football team secured qualification for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after edging Burkina Faso national football team 1–0 in a tightly contested match played at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium.

The victory, which came in the second round of Group Five fixtures, lifted Algeria to six points at the top of the group. 

Burkina Faso remain second with three points, keeping their qualification hopes alive heading into the final round.

In the other Group Five encounter, Sudan national football team claimed a crucial 1–0 win over Equatorial Guinea national football team at the Mohammed V Sports Complex. 

The result earned Sudan their first three points of the tournament, while Equatorial Guinea stayed rooted at the bottom of the group with no points.

Meanwhile, action in Group Six produced an entertaining contest as Mozambique national football team defeated Gabon national football team 3–2. The win moved Mozambique up to three points, while Gabon remain without a point after two matches.

With the group stage approaching its decisive phase, the race for qualification continues to intensify across the tournament.
