The Syrian Salvation Front, an opposition movement against Bashar al-Assad’s regime, has strongly condemned Algeria’s unwavering support for the Syrian dictatorship and its atrocities.

The movement accused Algeria of providing political and military backing to Assad’s brutal regime, further implicating Algiers in what it calls the "massacre of the century."

In stark contrast, Morocco is reaping the benefits of its consistent support for the Syrian people without ever aligning with the Tehran-Damascus axis.

According to the Front, Morocco has demonstrated high levels of expertise and security awareness, effectively countering Iranian attempts to infiltrate the kingdom—an infiltration that Iran has successfully executed and continues to sustain in Algeria.

"Faced with the Algerian regime’s denial, which attempts to dismiss these accusations as a fabricated scandal by the Moroccan press, the Syrian Salvation Front has reiterated its claims, demanding official apologies for the crimes committed, particularly the deployment of Polisario soldiers and mercenaries against the Syrian people," the Front’s statement reads.

The opposition movement also denounced Algeria’s long-standing support for the Polisario Front, labeling it a terrorist organization and a mere tool of Iranian-sponsored terrorism.

The statement calls on Algeria’s military generals to reconcile with their own people and to learn from the downfall of Assad’s regime to avoid meeting the same fate. The world is witnessing a new global order, and the ongoing transformations in the Middle East and North Africa will inevitably impact Algeria.

Will Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune heed the warning? Highly unlikely.

Tebboune has firmly placed Algeria in the camp of the so-called Global South, aligning himself with burdensome and unreliable allies. His regime continues to isolate the country while supporting oppressive forces across the region.

The question remains: how long can Algeria sustain this dangerous game before it faces the inevitable consequences?
