The scale of Iran's assault on Bahrain is staggering. Since the onset of Iranian aggression, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) has intercepted and destroyed 188 ballistic missiles and 429 drones targeting the kingdom, nearly 620 projectiles aimed at a country of barely 1.5 million people.

In a statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency, the BDF's General Command condemned Tehran's conduct in unambiguous terms: the targeting of civilian areas and private property constitutes "a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter."

The BDF's statement left no room for diplomatic nuance. These are not miscalculations or stray projectiles, they are indiscriminate attacks deliberately targeting civilians. "These attacks represent a direct threat to regional peace and security," the General Command declared.

Bahrain's disclosure fits a pattern now visible across the entire Gulf. Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Jordan have all reported Iranian missile and drone attacks in recent weeks. The message from Tehran is one of deliberate, broad-front intimidation, testing every Gulf state's defences simultaneously.

Emmanuel Macron has spoken. The Strait of Hormuz will not be forced open by military means. It would be "unrealistic," he told reporters during a trip to South Korea, a location that, one must admit, puts him admirably close to the action.
