Double gold for UAE in 400m at Asian U20 championships

The UAE national athletics team claimed two gold medals in the 400m events at the 22nd Asian U20 Athletics Championships in Hong Kong, bringing their total tally to three medals at the ongoing competition.

The UAE national athletics team claimed two gold medals in the 400m events at the 22nd Asian U20 Athletics Championships in Hong Kong, bringing their total tally to three medals at the ongoing competition.

Sulaiman Abdulrahman stole the show in the men's final, clocking 44.85 seconds to set a new championship record and become the first athlete in the history of the event to break the 45-second barrier. He surpassed the previous record of 45.53 seconds held by China's Aiyilikesi'er Wumai'er since 2024.

Aminat Qamar Al-Din added the second gold in the women's final with a personal best of 52.72 seconds. The UAE's medal count had opened with Salma Haitham Al Marri's bronze in the women's hammer throw the previous day.
