The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday that Israel is set to release more than 1,890 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of 33 Israeli hostages by Hamas.

This exchange is part of a ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

The prisoner exchange will take place during the first phase of the 42-day agreement, which aims to bring an end to the deadliest war in Gaza's history.

Egypt's role as a mediator has been pivotal in facilitating this agreement, reflecting its ongoing commitment to fostering stability in the region.

Egypt, alongside Qatar and the United States, has been instrumental in negotiating this deal.

The agreement is seen as a significant step toward de-escalating tensions and potentially paving the way for long-term peace in the region.
