Israel has taken part in the Marrakech Airshow with its first official national pavilion, putting its growing defense ties with Morocco on public display.

Israel's Ministry of Defense announced the pavilion on Thursday, calling it its first official presence at the Moroccan show since the two countries restored diplomatic relations under the Abraham Accords. The delegation was led by SIBAT, the ministry's international defense cooperation directorate.

Eight Israeli companies are taking part in the exhibition, which runs from October 7 to 10 at the Royal Moroccan Air Force base in Marrakech.

Five of them (ASIO Technologies, Orbit Communication Systems, SHILAT Optronics, UVision Air and XTEND Systems) share the national pavilion. Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems have their own stands.

The products on show include loitering munitions, AI-powered robotics, autonomous navigation for unmanned aircraft, laser guidance for first-person-view (FPV) drones and satellite communications. The ministry describes the systems as "combat-proven," making battlefield experience a central part of its export pitch.

Morocco and Israel have long-standing ties, including in the military field. The cooperation is a source of irritation for Algeria, an ally of Iran and Russia.
