Former CIA chief David Petraeus said in an interview with Sky News that Israel should enter Rafah in order to destroy Hamas. 

According to him, Israel must establish "fenced communities" in Gaza for the Palestinian residents, and "not make the mistakes we made in Iraq." 

Similar to the position of the White House, Petraeus added that the Netanyahu government should prepare for "the day after" the war.
